Spicy Pumpkin Soup Recipe

Recently I was talking with a friend of mine about how Halloween is celebrated in different countries around the world. She is Ukrainian, and I was curious to know if celebrating Halloween is a big deal in the Ukraine. I was saying that here in the UK it is not so important, at least not as important as it is in America. That being said, I told her that I would probably still carve a pumpkin and make some pumpkin soup. As it turns out, my friend likes pumpkin soup. So, Anastasia, here as promised is the recipe.
Mixed Bean Soup With Garlic Aioli Recipe
Written by Christopher Ellis • Posted on 25 October 2020 • Read time 4 mins
This soup is neither traditionally British nor Russian (as far as I know), maybe it’s a little French. Either way, it is very tasty for cold winters days.
This one is great if you have a slow cooker as you can add all the ingredients into it after step 5 and it will take care of itself. The slow cooking process will make it taste even better!
Leftovers can be reheated for 5 minutes in a pan to make a quick and tasty lunch.

Believe it or not this incredible cake is one of the two reasons I choose to learn russian (the other being Anna Karenina). It is called Medovik (Медовик) which literally translates to ‘Honey Cake’.
I fell in love with this delicious treat in Latvia. I was there to run a half marathon and when I finished I ate a lot of it!

So this one is neither traditionally Russian or British. Furthermore, anyone who has had or made proper french onion soup would agree that it is not really french onion soup either (perhaps I’ll post a recipe for that another time). This then is a quick lazy mid-week french onion soup inspired recipe for when you are missing France.
Cottage Pie Recipe

This is a traditional British dish that we will often have for dinner in the winter months. You can also make a variant known as shepherd pie (so called because shepherds are sheep farmers) by using lamb mince instead of beef. If you decide to make shepherd pie use rosemary rather than thyme and leave out the Worcestershire sauce and the peppers. Enjoy!
